Sooo if you’ve been following my blog for a bit, you may have deja vu here. Stacee is the sister of one of my 2018 brides, Cindy, and was featured in their wedding blogpost since she was the maid of honor! During Cindy’s wedding, Stacee mentioned that she had just gotten engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Jason, and that they were wanting to do engagement photos soon. These two are planning a winter-y wedding up in western Canada so they really wanted a snowy engagement session to go with their theme. Luckily for us, we all live in southern California where, depending on the time of year, you can literally see the ocean, the desert and the snowy mountains all in one day! We scheduled their engagement session for January in Big Bear Lake. Now this little lake town has a very special place in my heart since it’s where I got engaged two years ago, and where we got married this last spring! It’s been a huge bucket list item of mine to photograph a couple in love up in Big Bear and I was looking forward to Stacee & Jason’s session for months.
It wound up being 65 degrees on the day of their shoot so even though it looked nice and winter-y in the high elevations, it definitely still felt like California. We drank some beers (their adorable pup Chewy was reallyyyy trying to get some of that beer… I think he may have an alcohol problem haha!), hung out in Jason’s badass jeep, tried to walk in the snow without sinking up to our knees and watched a gorgeous sunset over the mountains.
